About my Passion
I have had a love for taking pictures every since I was a little kid. I got my first camera when i was 5 years old. It was one of the first 'kids' cameras- fisher price. I loved taking pictures of my family and of the cows and the dogs! I have always owned a camera. Some people say that they would be lost without their phones or that their phones are their life lines. I am more so that way with my camera.
My first great photo was taken at the Boundary Waters up in Northern MN. It was the reflection of the amazingly beautiful sunset against the calm still waters. I used it as a 4-H project in the photography category and got a Reserve Champion with it. I always showed photography for 4-H. Not always did I win, however, I compared myself to the winner as well as listening to the criticism from the judges and learned from it.
I took my eldest child to a local department store to have pictures done when he was under a year old. Although the pictures turned out nicely, they just weren't personal. They were like sit down, look at the camera, lift your chin, and smile, which I paid out the nose for. And not to mention three other people I knew had the exact same pictures with the exact same poses. I feel that photos are so personal. Every photo is unique, just like every person is unique. Photography is an expression. It's an art. So with every shoot that I have, I try to get to know the clients before hand and know what they are into and what things they like, so that their photos can be personalized as best as possible. I want it to be memorable and impressionable. Capture memories.
My favorite photos and my forte' is outdoors. I think there is just an unlimited amount of wonder in this world and there are so many possibilities for unique and natural (non-posed) photos. Speaking of natural, I preferably use the good ol' natural lighting. I think you get that great glow and direct hit from the natural lighting. I do, however, have studio lighting that I can use if it is necessary.
